Eclof International was founded in 1946 in Geneva, Switzerland. The first mission was to offer financial support to churches in Europe, especially after the Second World War. The first credits were used by churches to rebuild, renovate or expand their premises, as well as to establish schooling and build health facilities. Eclof Colombie was born in 1986 as an NGO in order to support the development and strengthening of the microfinance sector in the Andean country. The MFI transformed into S.A in 2010.

Eclof Colombia has as vision to be nationally and internationally recognized for its expertise in microfinance programs that promote the social and financial development of its clients. The institution provides inclusive financial services to improve the quality of life of urban and rural populations.
