ACEP – Burkina Faso
.
.
The ACEP system (Agence de Crédit pour l’Entreprise Privée) was developed in the 90’s on the initiative of ACEP International and is constituted as a reference network and as one of the main actors of microfinance in Africa. The MFI arrived to Burkina Faso in 2010 to provide local financial services by adopting existing best practices in this area.
Its activities began in 2012 and today, the institution finances more than 9,986 micro-entrepreneurs through 6 agencies with an average disbursed loan of 3,388 €. The agencies are located in the largest cities of the country: Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Koudougou and Kaya to serve the urban and peri-urban areas of Burkina Faso. ACEP Burkina only offers the TPE product (very small enterprise producs) to its customers, broken down into two sub-products that differ only in purpose (working capital or investment). The conditions are nevertheless adapted to the needs of the customers. A new SME credit will be launched soon.
The target clientele of ACEP-Burkina are developing micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and that are strongly committed to the implementation of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) system, so that the social mission can be identified and pursued throughout activities. Nearly 90% of their loans finance trade, 7% services, 1.5% production and 1% processing.
The great advantage that ACEP offers is the development of mobile banking. The MFI plans to put in place a mechanism allowing customers to deposit money in their accounts via mobile phones from the second half of 2018. This will allow the MFI to reach customers in more remote areas.
