Óptima – El Salvador
Óptima was founded in 2009 by a Salvadoran entrepreneur with both a financial and social objective. Its vision is to be a socially responsible financial institution: through offering good quality financial services tailored to its customers, it allows their economic development. Proof of its good management is seen in the fact that the MFI has been profitable since its inception.
Mainly based in San Salvador, the capital, Óptima is gradually working its way into the provinces through a network of 7 branches. The MFI’s distribution network is structured around a network of ‘express points’ (local shops). This distribution system makes it accessible for the customers, facilitating refunds.
Óptima only offers individual loans that have sufficiently flexible conditions in terms of duration, amount, repayment frequency and purpose to meet the precise needs of their customers. They target loans towards the real demands of micro and small entrepreneurs. Few institutions offer this service and this represents a competitive advantage for Óptima (and also for its clients!).
