INSOTEC – Ecuador

 

The institution was founded in 1980 as a private non-for-profit foundation by the initiative of a group of small industry entrepreneurs with the aim of contributing to the economic, social and educational development in Ecuador.

INSOTEC is present in five of the 24 provinces of the country through nine agencies. The targeted customers are micro-entrepreneurs in rural areas where competition is less present. Following a customer satisfaction survey in 2014, 84% of the customers are very satisfied with the services of the MFI.

The economic activity that predominates in the region INSOTEC targets, is the agricultural sector. Indeed, the MFI’s customers are farmers growing several products such as apples, bananas or cocoa.

The MFI provides training about the development of social enterprises for its customers. 14 courses were offered in 2014 with over 270 participants. This service is free for MFI clients. It also offers free health days for customers and their children and more than 2558 customers have benefited in 2014.
