PILARH OPDF – Honduras

 

The NGO PILARH OPDF was created in 1997 by a local initiative, in October 2007 with the vision of being an innovative institution, competitive and sustainable, with rural financial quality services, engaged in the social and economic strengthening of vulnerable populations and with as mission to provide rural financial services of quality and appropriate responses to the needs of agricultural and non-agricultural micro-entrepreneurs to contribute to the improvement of their standard of living.

PILARH is active in 32 municipalities in 4 departments of western Honduras: Ocotepeque, Copán, Lempira and Santa Barbara. Customers targeted by the institution are small agrarian producers whose majority is dedicated to food production and micro-entrepreneurs living in rural and peri-urban areas.

The MFI offers up to 8 types of loans from credits for going from working capital loans to investment credits. Nevertheless, the PILARH is specialized in financing small producers. Besides, a large majority of loan officers are themselves producers of coffee and can so better advise their clients.
