Nila Picha
After finishing primary school, Nila started selling sweets in the town of Chivay to generate income. Very soon after, she got involved in a housing project and obtained three microcredits through Fondesurco. That’s when she saw that her expectations could be much greater.
First, with the help of her husband who worked in constructions, she built two houses in the town of Sibayo and they renovated their home as well, which is now open to tourists. These residences are decorated with magnificent typical tissues of the Chivay region: tapestries, embroidery and patchwork, creating a harmonious blend of bright colors. Along with the accommodation offer, she also proposes activities in the organic garden, embroidery workshops or walks with herds of alpacas where she also proposes to discover the art of spinning wool.
But Nila’s motivation is even bigger and she currently has a new project: to open the first Eco museum in her town, which will have a craft boutique as well.
