Abdou Ganahi

Ganahi Abdou is a 67-year-old retired Nigerien, who started his first job as a technical assistant for breeding in 1968.

During a certain time, he was breeder of laying hens, but unfortunately he had difficulties with this activity. Following the advice of a friend came from Nigeria, he decided to start breeding and selling quail eggs business.

After some researches to learn how to raise quails, he decided to apply for a loan at the microfinance institution Asusu SA. The institution granted him an amount of 500,000 CFA Francs (€ 760). With that amount he could buy an incubator with a capacity of more than 1,000 eggs.

Word of mouth attracted more and more customers and his business took a boom. Abdou is proud of it because he doesn’t need to contract the small and insufficient pension that the state paid him each quarter, and became so financially independent.

“Each day he thanks ASUSU,” and each time he passes in front of the institution’s buildin, he has a nice heavy heart.
