Marling Jimenez
My name is Jimenez Marling. I am 38 years old and a single mother of three boys. I heard about Pro Mujer in 2009 through a district manager, who informed me about the possibility of joining a community association to take out a loan. I then joined a group of 27 people.
At that time I had many economic difficulties. I owned a shoe manufacturing company and was employing 3 people, but the yield was only 100 pairs of shoes a week. My children were young and I was the only source of income of the family.
Today the reality is different, in 5 years my business progressed well. Currently we produce 600 pairs of shoes per week that are delivered weekly in shops in 4 departments of Nicaragua.
With the loan, I was able to improve the workshop and today 11 people are working under a tin roof and concrete floor, each of them earning a monthly salary of 6,000 Cordobas (€ 193).
With the profits of the company, I could also improve my house and I intend to build a second one for my children.
This year my goal is to buy a van to open new lines of shoes deliveries in other departments of the country and in March, I will take a further step and go to Panama where I will participate in two major trade shows to commercialize my products.
Today I am a visionary woman … thanks to received financial education trainings and I impose myself goals and I accomplish them.
